If you missed us LIVE- NO WORRIES! I've linked all of our faves from the video right here!
Now, let me introduce you to my friend @shelbyyrsimmons. If you are new here, Shelby is one of my besties and you will def see her time to time on the blog but mostly as a model for my online store!
Shelby is my skincare/ beauty queen! If I ever have a beauty question or concern, she is my go- to girl! Anything from tanner, to anti-aging. She's got you.
Shelby's skin type: Normal to dry skin
My skin is different from Shelby's which makes this post even better! Everyone's skin type is so different and calls for different skincare routines and makeup products. One thing may be great for Shelby, but not so great on my skin and vise versa!
My skin is normal to oily...some days are "shinier" than others lol. I also have very sensitive skin. One wrong product and I'm breaking out. I like to keep my skincare routine very simple and the acne AWAY.
Those of you with oily skin- who else thought the dryer your skin felt the better? Ya...me too. TOTAL LIES. Moisturizing is the #1 thing you can do for all skin types INCLUDING those with oily skin.
Alex's skin type: Normal to oily skin
Now. The fun stuff. READ ON...
Let's start with Shelby's fave products. Beginning with all her 'Dessert Island' Skincare necessities and her go-to makeup products!
1. Ole Henriksen Transforming Walnut Scrub
exfoliating cleanser, removes self tanner, improves dullness and uneven skin tones.
2. Drunk Elephant Whipped Cream or "any Drunk Elephant Moisturizer" According to Shelby
A rescue cream and a great moisturizer to use helping with anti aging. Helps dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles.
3. Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen
Great for anti aging
4. Murad Night Fix Enzyme Treatment
Overnight Treatment designed to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and dryness. Good for most skin types- Normal, dry, combination, and oily! Leaves your skin looking radiant!
5. MILK Hydro grip primer
An amazing primer both Shelby and I LOVE! Lightweight, and leaves makeup looking fresh all day long.
6. TOO FACED Born This Way Sculpting Concealer
7. Benefit Hoola Bronzer + Hoola Brush
8. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish color Soft & Gentle Highlight
MAC Highlight Brush 133 (for a more intense highlight look)
9. Tarte Bloom Clay Pallette
9. Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Brag Mascara
Now, my stuff!
It's been a minute since I've shared all my skincare items and makeup. During this quarantine, I have been able to try out a few drug store goodies- Great products that won't break the bank!
1. Tula Purifying Face Cleanser or Tula Super Calm Gentle Milk Cleanser
Currently I am using the purifying cleanser, but I have used the Milk Cleanser as well and love. The Gentle Milk Cleanser is great if you have very sensitive skin.
2. Tula Radiance Illuminating Serum
Amazing serum! I've noticed a more even skin tone, and helps with my dark spots. Ultimately leaving skin looking younger and radiant.
3. Tula Super Sooth Calming Moisturizer
Soothes and conditions sensitive skin! Improves irritation and redness.
4. Dermalogica Clear Start
What I use when I do have breakouts- I will say this spot treatment got my skin under control! So I have not had to use it in a while, only for the occasional blemish.
5. Jade Roller
I usually use my jade roller after applying moisturizer to lock in the moisture! But I mostly use it because it feel so good! I store it in a zip lock bag in the freezer, so the coolness calms any irritation or puffy eyes.
6. FENTY Beauty Foundations vs. Maybelline FIT ME Matte foundation + Bare Minerals Precision Face Brush
I normally use the FENTY beauty foundation, but during quarantine am using the Maybelline FIT ME! foundation. Recommend if your are looking for a budget friendly option in foundation.
7. Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer
I find this to be a great drug store option- especially for under the eye concealer! Will prob continue to use this way down the road.
8. Laura Mercier Setting Translucent Powder + Real Techniques Powder Brush
I use this setting powder and never going back. I so get the full size because it lasts so much longer, and totally worth the splurge. I usually apply this using a fluffy brush!
9. Too Faced Chocolate Matte Bronzer + Bare Mineral Brush
I've used for a while now. Not too heavy and can build up for a more bronze look!
10. Becca Mineral Blush
I use color FLowerchild for my summer glow look! Nightingale is a great color option for a fall/ winter look. I apply with my Real Techniques fluffly brush!
11. Milani Sunglow Highlight + Sephora Highlight Brush
Top off any look with a little highlight! PLUS a great drugstore find/ budget friendly option
12. NARS Pro-Prime Eye Primer
I used to use Urban Decay Eye primer, and I was totally missing out on this NARS Pro-Prime. I use less, and my eyeshadow is not going ANYWHERE! Thank you, Shelby for introducing me to this! lol.
13. Too Faced Chocolate Matte Bronzer
14. Revlon Liquid Eyeliner
I use the 'Blackest Black' color and I love this fine liner brush and gives me the perfect winged look. and yes, it's budget friendly and you can find it at any drugstore.
15. Loreal Telescopic Mascara + Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara
Telescopic mascara in black, thin silicone brush, lengthening eyelashes and separating them. Top it off with Damn Girl, for a voluminous, clump free look. I prefer the 'Damn Girl' mascara over ' Better than Sex' Mascara. Shelby and I agree that the 'Better than Sex' mascara is way over hyped. If you do prefer this mascara, a budget friendly option would be the Loreal Lash Paradise. Too me, it is just as good and a fraction of the price!
16. (for browse) Loreal Telescopic Mascara: Color Black/brown
I love the brush on this mascara and use it to keep browse in place and slightly darken the browse for a full glam look.
Makeup (lip) Budget Friendly!
17. Loreal Lip Liner Color Magnetic Mauve
18. Loreal Pro Matte Gloss Color Statement Nude
19. Almay Makeup Removal Pads
I use this for eyes and face! Oil free and leaves my skin feeling fresh
